Introduction Words of the Artist
I
chose to paint scenes of the Bible because of
the human situations full of feelings and
instincts, the struggles of strength and
survival; the struggle between right and wrong,
between the moral and the immoral; because of
all the passions that dominate the human being
and its reactions to them.
The Bible is
an endless source of inspiration for artists as
the conflicts therein turn it into an always up
to date book, despite changing generations.
Along history, plastic artists have
depicted biblical scenes due to the mentioned
reasons; every artist brought his/her own
interpretation that usually was in accordance
with the prevailing ideas of his/her time. The
language of modern art in the 20th century is
one of distortion that emphasizes certain
elements which, according to the artist, are
important, diminishing the value of other ones.
The artist's message is transmitted by
means of the accurate drawing so the spectator
receives the picture's elements in a clear
manner and can concentrate in the picture's
content. In surrealism, the figure is delineated
perfectly and describes the absurdity of how
extreme points are linked in dreams. In other
words, although the image is apparently
illogical, in fact it's very far from being
absurd.
The strong colours form a
harmony that rarely corresponds to the subject
matter. In my view the colours are meant to melt
into one general esthetical framework.
This is my interpretation of my artistic
work here displayed from a conscious point of
view since the subconscious meaning of said work
is unknown to me.
