"Monumental
moments of Biblical inspiration" By
Doron Polak
The
continuous artistic work of Yehudit Oficyner is
quite unique in the context of local art and
combines styles of South American artists with
classic Jewish subjects. Her colourful paintings
include a big surrealistic quantity of objects
whose functionality is not always clear,
paintings accurately delineated and in general,
find themselves on a chosen constructive
background.
In these pictures we see a
very interesting influence of organic objects
like body parts, fruits and vegetables that we
find in nature and a large variety of flowers
and plants both real and imaginary. The artist
has her own world of images and rhythmical open
spaces of fantasy.
It is important to
stress that Oficyner does not follow any defined
and known artistic movement and it is even more
difficult to include her work in an updated
fashion of the contemporary creation world. In
that lies her uniqueness.
Visiting an
exhibition of Yehudit Oficyner ensures a journey
to a world of fantasy, personal, full of images,
new and unknown associations. The viewer is
assured a time of traveling trough a world of
symbols and imagery and is thus challenged to
decipher the code of the mystery the paintings
conceal.
